Rescale your Hetzner VPS and save money

I've been using a Hetzner VPS for a few years now, and it's a great service. It is the server this website runs on.

I was on the Hetzner CPX21 plan. Meaning I got 4GB RAM, 80GB storage and 3 available cores.

But the time had come where I needed a bit more RAM and I noticed there were new plans, cheaper and with more RAM.

But spinning up a new VPS and rebuilding everything was not something I had time for.

But Hetzner makes it super-easy to switch plans.

It's called rescalingand it's perfectly well explained in your customer portal. That is, if you know what to look for. I had never bothered to check this tab:

Rescale tab from Hetzner customer portal

By switching from CPX21 to the CX33 plan I got double the RAM, one extra core for ~3 EUR less per month.

How?

So:

It only took a few minutes!

If you feel inclined you can use my referral code, you get 20 EUR and I get 10 EUR. Great!
